Crowdfunding is a fantastic way to activate your network, drive momentum for your business or project and build word of mouth to kick start your venture. We ran GoodHair’s first crowdfunding campaign from mid February to mid March and it was quite the exciting journey. Who knew we’d reach our goal in just 11 days?!
But it wasn’t magic. We put in a lot of work behind the scenes. We began months ahead of the campaign launch by putting together our story and developing a polished campaign video with the help of the talented folks at Mudwing Media. We developed partnerships with our amazing campaign sponsors Briogeo, Karen’s Body Beautiful, Original Moxie and Oyin Handmade. We then carefully selected the crowdfunding platform that felt right for our venture, Plum Alley, which supports projects led by women. Once we’d set up our campaign page, we put in serious time and effort before the launch, activating our networks, engaging them with the idea, previewing the campaign video and site, and even securing funders.
By the time the campaign was live, we were excited to see that we’d already built enough momentum to reach our goal. And with the support of our incredible funders and advocates, we did it in less than half the time we expected! To everyone that contributed (whether financially, in-kind, by spreading the word) we say a huge ‘THANK YOU!’ It simply would not have happened without you.
This is just the beginning of our collective adventure to redefine what it means to have ‘good hair’. Now we’re on to the next phase of GoodHair…stay tuned for the big reveal of our proof of concept where it will all begin to come alive.
