What’s Good Wednesday

In light of pressing global affairs, we were able to have a brief chat with the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Africans in the Diaspora, Solome Lemma of nonprofit organizanization, Africans in the Diaspora. We asked her ‘what’s good about innovation in Africa?’ Here’s what she had to say:

What I love about Innovation in Africa, is that Africans of all backgrounds and nationalities are taking it upon themselves to solve problems and create opportunities in their communities. From Egypt to South Africa, Ivory Coast to Kenya, Africans are coming up with new and effective ideas, tools, systems, and structures to move their communities forward, whether it is creating a mobile technology for farmers to track their products, a free-trade shoe company that hires unemployed youth, or a school that educates next generation leaders.

—Africans in the Diaspora is working to ensure that Africans on the continent and in the diaspora play a leading role in Africa’s progress.
